The Evening Parka For Fall And Winter2012

Evening wear and parka might be as different as night and day literally, but this Fall/Winter 11/12 season, some designers had created their versions of evening parkas (the name came from Altuzarra), which means parka made luxurious enough to wear it as a formal evening coat.

Wearing a parka over a gown or a party dress doesn’t sound like a normal thing to do unless you are a red carpet rock chick, but an evening parka simply adds a bit of sporty-ness and edge to a typical formal look, and it keeps you warm during the cold season!

Far Out Traveller Look

This spring/summer 2011, the four fashion capitals returned to the Seventies to bring luxuriant glamour back into our wardrobes.  Created with sultry summer evenings in mind, this season's catwalk offerings share the Moroccan infusion that enkindled Yves Saint Laurent's most iconic shows.  Inspired by his palatial Majorelle Gardens in Marrakesh, his Seventies collections produced holiday wear that balanced elegance with decadence.  To capture this luxe look in your own holiday wardrobe, start at Gucci, where silk jumpsuits were overlaid with leather tassel belts and copious fringing in a rich palette brought dresses to life.

See rhe traveller trend on the catwalk
These looks found their richness in their details.  From intricate embroidery at Anna Sui to tasseled triumphs at Versace and Matthew Williamson, the artisan appearance of these pieces lent them an upscale glamour.  Mixing fabrics and textures also brought an injection of luxury - as seen at Kenzo, Diesel and Vivienne Tam - while print was key at Missoni, Kinder Aggugini and L.A.M.B.

For eveningwear, silk lent an air of insouciance, with printed jumpsuits at Diane von Furstenberg and Etro coming complete with vibrant lipstick and strappy leather sandals.
Search your old copies of Vogue to see how the supers did this look justice.  Take inspiration from Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz and Linda Evangelista - who brought a cool glamour to exotic locations in elegant Seventies styles.

Art of Christian Doir Hats

Christian Dior is named after its founder, Christian Dior, which has become the leading provider of all fashion goods. Dior’s products are commonly inspired from various sources and they would bring striking influence in the fashion industry. After so many stunning achievements on accessories, especially hats, Christian Dior is proud to offer a series of amazing hats again.

Unlike the previous hats, Christian Dior’s designers have made a great progress in improving the different beauty of modern women. All the Christian Dior hats are made from high-quality materials and sophisticated workmanship. More importantly, Christian Dior hats can offer you everything you need, even if you are so critical to fashion trends.

Generally speaking, the Christian Dior hats are designed in natural colors and bulky shape. At the same time, the lady’s hats are not so exaggerated even though they are displayed on runway. Therefore, you could also wear one or two of them in daily life and I think it is so captivating and fashion-forward. Have you ever noticed those retro Christian Dior hats? Yep, they are made from soft leather together with stunning rivets and the design is quite simple but extraordinary. How about the Christian Dior exotic hats? They are a little bit complicated and strange. However, they would remind you of a sense of mystery and futuristic design.  The hats are so romantic and beautiful. Wow, I suppose no one could resist the temptation of Christian Dior hats once again. Just love them without any reason. Christian Dior, my love!

Eight Ways To Dress Slimmer

Find out how to look thinner -- without resorting to head-to-toe black.

Go monochromatic
First off, wearing a monochromatic colour scheme is elegant and flattering to all body types, explains Collins. Even wearing an all-white suit, for example, will look good on someone trying to dress slimmer because it doesn't chop up the body. The last thing you want to do is chop up your look with a different colour, which could make even a slim person look stocky.

Stop hiding behind baggy clothes
Make sure clothes fit you properly, Collins suggests. Wearing clothes that are too baggy can easily add the illusion of five to 10 pounds to your frame and make it look as though you are hiding behind something, she says. On the other hand, wearing clothes that fit properly -- not too baggy and not too tight -- exudes confidence.

Add accessories
Accessories are a smart trick for looking slimmer, Collins explains. Adding bangles or a nice pair of earrings is a great way to pull together an outfit and add a tasteful splash of colour to a monochromatic look. Accessories like a pendant or brooch draw the eye up, and toward your beautiful face.

Choose lower waistlines
When it comes to choosing the right pair of pants, Collins says your best bet is to stick with a lower waistline with a flat front and no pleats. A slightly lower waistline helps to elongate your look, she explains. Pants should be on the longer side so there is a nice break at the cuff. Boots will finish the look, lengthen the legs, and can add height and elegance, she says.

Bet on belts
Belts can also be a great tool when trying to dress slimmer. Wearing a belt with a nice buckle lower on your hips will draw the eye to the belt and elongate your overall look, especially if the belt blends with your clothing colour, Collins says. Belts can also help tie a look together, and are a very versatile accessory.

Skinny versus wide pants -- you can wear both
Since skinny pants are still on the fashion radar, there are ways to wear them and look streamlined, Collins says. If you are going to wear skinny pants, pair them with a voluminous top or long blazer, she says. The same principle applies when wearing a wide-legged trouser. Pair them with a fitted shirt or jacket. "The whole outfit shouldn't be completely voluminous or stick straight," she explains. But pairing one with the other makes it simple to dress both slim -- and stylish. Collins also says that if you are going to go with a skinny jean or pant, you ca... Read More

Leather's Charming

Stingray leather is making a rocketed push to fashion industry in stunning ways as of late. With top notch machinery and innovative ways of tanning, the uses are diverse like sanding it down to a sleek finishing.
A large number of venerable luxury brands including Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Yves Saint Laurent are including stingray leather in manufacturing their products.

Stingray, also known as shagreen or chagrin, actually has long been employed in the fashion world. However, it did not gain great prevalence at the beginning, and it was mainly used to design common products rather than being pushed into the luxuries limelight.
Part of the reason was that stingray skin was extremely hard to deal with due to its hardness, which adds difficulty while bending and manipulating to use for the complex requirements of design in current accessories market. Whereas, some manufacturers have taken bold move to remake stingray skin, rendering it softer and use it within complicated designs. While other manufacturers would prefer print stingray engraved in traditional leather, saving all the trifles and risk of remaking it since dealing with stingray is still a less known complicated progress.

As she grows up and goes more edgy Miley's incorporated some more black leather into her wardrobe, and with her latest album she's turned into a trademark for her new stage look. Offstage her fav picks are accesories and jackets. Take into concideration she doesn't walk down the streets of LA with the stage outfits either but their vibe is definitely present and something you can incorporate into your look in million ways - n in even more ways when you go out. Remember there's always fake leather, and leather-like leggings that will do just as well as Miley's pants. All it takes is a little leather and whoa! Oh yup, everybody should own a leather jacket and even a little more.

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2012

Last season the Alexander McQueen show took place in Paris's bon-chic-bon-genre 16th arrondissement, home to royalty and bankers.
Tuesday night the venue switched to the grittier 'hood of the 19th, home to many of Paris's immigrants. Is the label reminding everyone that as well as dressing the Duchess of Cambridge, furnishing state occasions with opulent dresses and providing New York's Metropolitan Museum with one of its biggest blockbuster exhibitions of the decade, it has a fine tradition of playing agent provocateur?

"This is a collection about excess," warned Sarah Burton, McQueen's creative director, before the show. "It's an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them."
She added that she was also thinking about women as objects of desire and, arguably, there was much objectification in this show - first a model with veiled eyes, then one with a veiled face but breasts visible beneath translucent chiffon.

A Fashion Plaids' Moment

I was taken with this interesting combination at Zara recently. Matching casual lumberjack plaid with dressy sequins is so extreme that I think it works. It’s certainly one way to dress down a sequin skirt or camisole!

The vibe reminds me a little of my weekend uniform in the ’90s when I wore Levi’s 501s, a black lace camisole, a grungy red plaid shirt, a black belt and flat black biker boots. The juxtaposition of the sequins with the plaid shirt here takes things a little further — and I like it more than my ’90s lace version.

I’m not into wearing lumberjack plaid shirts anymore, but I am a yay vote for the look. I like all the outfits shown below, the casual flat booties being the cool cherry on top. My version would be to skip the plaid and wear a denim shirt tucked into the sequin skirt with the flat booties. Tame in comparison, but a pretty extreme juxtaposition nonetheless.

The Perfect Party Dress

As soon as the fizz, bang, whizz of Bonfire night is over I turn my attention to Christmas, more specifically the perfect Christmas party dress!
This year I have decided to step away from my faithful LBD and go for something with a little more sparkle. I am loving the sequin trend this season and can’t wait to rock this look for the festivities.

This Love Label Embellished Bead and Sequin Dress is gorgeous but as it’s not too far removed from the LBD I decided on another.

I have to admit that this Love Label Two Tone Sequin Dress came a very close second, it is every bit as gorgeous as the South dress.

Become the focus of the party!

Short Hairstyles – Bridal Hair Style is not a big problem, but an additional stimulus for fresh ideas. New-Fashion-2010.com offers do not focus on length, but on the volume, asymmetry and hair ornaments.

In such an installation is important volume and prolonged results. In the roots of the hair above the forehead and temples, rub the mousse for volume. Then pull the strands of paddles along the length of pre-causing them spray shine. And do not forget about the veil.

Meg Ryan Wedding Hair Style

Fashion on 90 returns. One of the main stars of fifteen years ago – actress Meg Ryan (Meg Ryan) and her short haircut a hooligan. For a more modern version of the curl out only the very tips of the hair, making sure not formed creases. Ringlets over his ears and on the crown comb back and fix fancy hairpins. Fashion Men's Jacket Trend

A garment more often associated with Eskimo’s and explorers – or at least those not educated in elegant outerwear – the parka has gone through something of a resurgence these last couple of months. Since hitting the catwalk in September, many high street brands have designed their own parkas in an attempt to fuel the revival of one of the most utilitarian garments.
Whilst women saw something of a return of the parka to high-end fashion last year, in an attempt to keep up with their furiously fashion-forward efforts, more playful designers offered an alternative jacket to the stripped down, minimalist pieces that are prevalent right now. In this article, I am going to try and describe why the parka has a place in your wardrobe, and showcase some original outfit ideas.

The parka jacket was seen in various forms throughout many autumn/winter preview high fashion collections. Below you can see parka jackets from major fashion houses such as D&G, Balmain, Gant, J Crew and Junya Watanabe – quite a backing I am sure you will agree.

A decade after the Korean War, the parka jacket was used for more sartorial purposes right here in Britain. It was given a lease of life as a mainstay in all Mod’s wardrobes; a statement piece in its own right, if only as an obvious symbol of Mod culture.
Right now, it is making waves for very similar reasons. Moving away from the vogue, yet timeless collections heading the catwalk at the moment, the parka represents something less-refined, and more conventionally masculine. The following outfit ideas will hopefully prove the parka’s worth – acting as a sartorial edge to your winter wardrobe.

Wendy from Wendy’s Lookbook styled a pair of our Martini in Sapphire Blue.  We came across her post and thought is was so great we wanted to share her tips with you.  While exploring San Francisco, she paired our leg lengthening Martini flare in velvet with a simple black turtleneck and faux fur vest.  We agree with Wendy that the Holidays are the perfect time to play with texture. Our velvet styles are perfect for incorporating color and texture into any wardrobe, and we love how Wendy experiments with adding in other textures. In such a cold climate the velvet pant was also perfect for her tour of the City by the Bay.

How to diy a fashion beaded fringe necklace

First, get ready the things you need.100 inches of gold or silver chain, wire cutters or needle-nose pliers, 1 yard of beaded fringe on a ribbon, needle and thread, 14 jump rings, 1 lobster claw closure.

Now carefully follow me:
Cut three length of chain. One should be 25", another should be 34", and the last should be 41". Then cut three lengths of beaded trim, each 21" long.

Fold the ends of each ribbon over twice (1/4" and then 1/4" again) and stitch the fold closed with a needle and thread for a finished edge. Center a length of beaded fringe on each chain, then sew the finished ends of the ribbon to a link of the chain.

On each chain, evenly space four jump rings, 4" apart. Put the ring through a link of the chain and around the ribbon part of the beaded fringe, then close them up with pliers.

Arrange your chains into three rows with the shortest on top and the longest on the bottom, and link one end of all three chains together with a jump ring. Close the ring, and put a jump ring through the lobster closure. Link all three chains together at the other end with the same jump ring, and voilà, you're done.

Fragrance Trail-How to Find Your Right Perfume

Regarding to perfume, I’ve always erred on the side of discretion. I’ve spritzed rather than splashed. I’ve made a point to wear only fragrances I perceive as quiet—-perhaps fearing that if anyone around me should catch too potent a whiff, they might form an unfavorable opinion about me. I haven’t truly loved—in a desperate, nostril-flaring, want to suck it all in way—very many perfumes. There was a scent given to me by a boyfriend in college, its (and his) name long forgotten, that smelled exactly like mimosa flowers: Every time I applied it, I could see those fuchsia pom-poms—their resemblance to Dr. Seuss illustrations always a source of delight—blooming in the yard of my midwestern childhood home. In my twenties, I had a fling with lily-of-the-valley Dior Diorissimo, so evocative of that moment when the first hyacinth bouquets appear in New York delis in the dead of winter, like a promise of spring. But my current favorite is a scent by botanical Strange Invisible Perfumes called Dimanche (“Sunday,” en fran?ais), and when I inhale it I practically levitate with pleasure. It’s not just that its notes—a mélange of iris, rose, honey, and something suggestive of sun-dried hay—transport me back to my grandparents’ Kansas farm, of which I have little conscious memory, but because I feel that at last I’ve found a fragrance that smells, ineffably, like me. For the first time in my life, I want everyone else to smell what I’m wearing. Not in an overpowering, please-God-let-her-get-off-the-elevator way, but in a subtly insinuating, ghostly way. I want it to be the scent that people remember me by. Not only when I’m gone gone, but when I’ve simply left the room for a few minutes.
The fragrance trail—technically, its sillage—is perhaps one of the most misunderstood aspects of perfumery. Many people associate its presence with the type of walloping, intrusive fragrances that can turn a crowded cinema into a gas chamber. But it’s actually something entirely different, and—in intention, at least—thoroughly elegant. The word sillage is French for “wake,” like that left by a boat as it moves through water. I like to picture it as the vapor trail of an airplane as it crosses the sky: It’s something that hangs in the air intangibly, and just as you begin to get a fix on it, it’s gone.
There are different levels of sillage—that’s why you can smell some people coming before they enter a room but have to lean in for a good wrist-sniff to detect a perfume on others. Some scents have what fragrance bloggers often refer to as “monster sillage”—which I assume is what I experienced when I sprayed Clive Christian C for Women in my apartment, and even an hour later the smell was so strong I needed to open the doors and windows to let it out—and some are so low-key they’re almost trailless. The desirability of one or the other depends largely upon the personali... Read More

Best Nail Polish Colors For Winter

Pastel Purple
The Hollywood version:
Girl-about-town Alexa Chung recently paired the intergalactic print of Christopher Kane’s leather minidress with vibrant lilac nails. “Violet captures the spirit of creative independence,” says Arnold. “It’s simple yet sophisticated.”
Navy
The Hollywood version:
The navy nails that dominated red carpets several years ago are back, thanks to two influential launches—the denim-inspired trio of Les Jeans de Chanel and the glamorous Christian Dior Blue Tie Collection. Kristen Stewart, seen here at the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, opted for a metallic take on the hue to enhance her sparkling J. Mendel gown.
Red
The Hollywood version:
Classic red, à la Jessica Alba’s nails at an Armani event earlier this month, never go out of style—and will put your fingertips in the spotlight. “Like jewelry, nails color makes a statement,” says Essie founder Essie Weingarten, who exclaims, “The bolder, the better!”
Muted Gold
The Hollywood version:
When Marion Cotillard needed to transition seamlessly from the red carpet of the Contagion premiere to more casual talk-show appearances, celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann opted for Believe, a golden beige polish from her eponymous lacquer line. “A soft, shimmering gold looks good on everyone,” she says.
Dark Chocolate
The Hollywood version:
At Christian Louboutin’s 20th anniversary party in New York City, Lea Michele set off a snow-white Versace dress with brownish-black nails. Indeed, according to manicurist Jin Soon Choi, black—a mainstay in recent seasons—is most current with a hint of cognac.

How to Make Dark Eye Makeup Beautiful

More and more women like dark eye makeup. The all-time most popular, most-applied makeup shade isn’t a classic crimson or a workaday beige. It’s black, in all its chic-to-grunge glory. And Carbon, which is the most beloved makeup shade, has never waned in popularity. But with new darker-than-dark pigments, black is better than ever. Long before smoky shadow and liner were as ubiquitous on the red carpet as Ryan Seacrest, Egyptian queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra elaborately decorated their lids with a homemade glossy kohl pigment—pulverized copper, iron, or lead mixed with oil and painted on with a wood, bone, or ivory stick (the first eyeliner brush). Even the Kama Sutra features a recipe for homemade mascara (a seductive combo of lamp oil and burnt crepe-ginger leaves). “There isn’t a shade that works with every skin tone and eye color as well as black,” says Collier Strong, a L’Oréal makeup artist. “It’s the most universally flattering makeup shade—ever.”

Three Ways to Wear It

Shiny Lids:  Even with advanced formulas on the market, many pros still prefer the DIY mixology long employed by Debbie Harry types in backstage bathrooms. To create model Daria Werbowy’s liquid-look, onyx smoky eyes, De Mey, Lancôme’s artistic director, blended a black pencil with lip balm on the back of his hand “until I got the perfect intensity of noir,” then he dabbed the concoction onto lids “with a very light touch.”
Spiky Lashes:  De Mey tight-lined (makeup artist speak for a microthin application of color along the lash line) Werbowy’s upper lids with black liner, then loaded them with the new Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes mascara.
Winged Liner:  De Mey drew a graphic Sophia Loren–inspired cat eye with precise strokes of Lancôme Artliner liquid liner. Create the shape using a gray pencil, then trace over with a slanted brush and matte black gel or liquid liner. Finish with a Q-tip dipped in Lancôme Génifique serum to clean the undereye and prep for concealer.
